Braille and tactile is required on signage within an accessible building.
Clause D3.6 of the BCA states braille and tactile signage is required to identify the following within accessible buildings:
- sanitary facility, except sanitary facilities in a bedroom of a Class 1b, 3 or 9c building.
- space with a hearing augmentation.
- each fire exit door provided with an exit sign.
- accessible unisex sanitary facility.
- ambulant accessible sanitary facility.
- accessible adult change facility
- non-acccessible pedestrian entrance and a accessible pedestrian entrance.
- at a bank of sanitary facilities without an accessible unisex sanitary facility or accessible adult change facility.
The braille and tactile signage may have directional arrows to inform people with a disability where they are required to go to find the accessible facilities.
